GOING NATIVE NEW WORK BY LARISSA GRANT, MAX KAUFFMAN AND DARYLL PEIRCE
JUNE 25 – JULY 27, 2014
OPENING RECEPTION SATURDAY, JUNE 28, 7-10 PM
Our habitats and how we adapt to them, be they natural or urban, new settings or native lands, influence how we present ourselves. On the surface it may simply be customs, objects and symbols that we collect because they create a sense of belonging, of being at home. On a deeper level, it raises questions of identity and the need to understand ourselves as individuals and as part of a larger group.
In this spirit of embracing and seeking understanding from our surroundings, we are pleased to present GOING NATIVE, an exhibition of new work by Larissa Grant, Max Kauffman and Daryll Peirce. The show includes paintings and mixed-media works that explore themes of connections, relationships, nature and human nature. The act of creating becomes a way to process, but not necessarily try to answer, the mystery of attraction and the places and people that bond us.
Currently, Grant, Kauffman and Peirce all call the San Francisco Bay Area home.
